ELEPHANT THEATRICAL TRAINING LAB - CLASSES

Scene Study Technique:
(with Chris Game or Greg Mortenson) The actor’s self awareness and character development is expanded through script analysis, movement, sense memory, personalization of given circumstance and emotional truth. This ongoing scene study class challenges actors to develop an individual and organic approach to acting.

Level I On Camera Acting:

(with Patrick Pankhurst) Learn how to perform on camera!
Actors will prepare and work on Guest Star and Co Star material from current productions and watch their performance on tape. Learn film technique and discover what works and what doesn’t.

Level II On Camera Acting/Audition Techniques:

(with Patrick Pankhurst) A more hands on approach for hard working advanced actors. Each class you will come prepared to audition and film scenes from current productions. Actors will act, direct, and shoot material every week. We will also work on location as much as possible.

PAGE TO STAGE/Contemporary scene Study performance workshop:
(with Dave Fofi) This class focuses exclusively on contemporary plays and those up and coming playwrights writing the most talked about plays for the American stage. David Fofi, who is known for his no-nonsense approach and incredibly detailed and nuanced direction, brings his unique style to the classroom. Warning: There will be no walking on eggshells in this class.

This class is ideal for actors who want to work in an atmosphere geared towards live performance and refining the relationship and communication between director and actor. Class will culminate into a live presentation of the work created on the Elephant Stage. Sessions will include guest artists including industry professionals
Rick Pagano and Michael Arabian.

Advanced Scene Study:

(with Patrick Pankhurst) Concentrating on one author at a time, scenes and partners will be assigned and you will work every class. A process of developing character through improvisation and exercises will be emphasized. Scenes will be videotaped and reviewed so actors can see
their own work.

Commercial Casting:
(with Chris Game) Learn on camera skills and commercial audition technique with casting director Chris Game of Chris and Jed casting. Chris has over ten yearsexperience casting national commercials such as Toyota, Pepsi, Taco Bell and Gatorade.

Solo Performance:
(with Debra De Liso) From inception to performance this workshop intensive with actor, writer, director, producer Debra De Liso is designed to help the performer/playwright develop original scripts for solo performance.

Yoga for Actors:

(with Sarah Bergman) Enhance flexibility, strength and relaxation in the body. Improve concentration, connect breath (and therefore voice), and cultivate an open emotional state of being. This class draws from three
traditional lineages of yoga: Ashtanga, Iyengar and Viniyoga. Open to all levels.

Working with award-winning director, writer, producer, Kristin Hanggi, composers, directors, writers, singers, and actors who wish to develop their musical talent, explore the ins and outs of contemporary musical theatre.

ACTING SHAKESPEARE:

The user friendly approach for the non-classical actor
    
This workshop intensive will be a comprehensive, hands-on approach to successfully acting Shakespeare's works.  It is specifically tailored to the "American" actor and will remove the bitter taste of the Bard planted by inept, boring English teachers. You will learn a vital, living and edgy technique to unlock the text and meaning of any scene or monologue.
